The primary purpose in establishing a Nature Reserve is to conserve the habitats and wildlife that the site supports.

Not all of these reserves contain rarities but each one has something special about it. Some are large, some are very small; some can cope with large numbers of visitors, while others are more fragile and can only tolerate a small amount of human disturbance.
